Baselworld 2014 will see the reintroduction of the original 1969 Omega Speedmaster Mark II, a timepiece with a streamlined case that was driven by the same space-tested, hand-wound caliber 861 which found fame inside the famous Moonwatch. The 2014 version of this classic timepiece has been updated to include an automatic mechanical movement and a luminous tachymetre scale – a first in the iconic Speedmaster family. The watch will be issued in two version: a traditional Speedy black dial as below, and the grey dial with fluorescent orange accents, you see above.
There is a real demand for the style of watches that dominated the late sixties and early seventies and this is another welcome edition to this trend, beautifully executed by Omega. This watch as said, will officially be unveiled at Baselworld 2014, which starts on March 27. Retail price for the Omega Speedmaster Mark II watches will be $6,250. Here at Beastie Folly we have no hesitation in saying that this will be a winner, tailor made to adorn the wrists of many a successful car salesmen! We love it.
